introducing the bump diaries: a hipster mum collaboration with blossom and glow maternity. when one of my closest friends & high school buddy @nikkifletcher revealed she was expecting her third bub i asked if she’d be interested in documenting the experience through the weeks.

#stylingthebump is a challenge that mirrors the physical & emotional journey of having a baby & for ladies thinking about it – or mamas like me wondering if we’re ready to sign up for it all over again – the weekly adventures of pregnancy are fascinating. along with nikki sharing her thoughts & me taking pics, kathyrn from @blossomandglowmaternity will be sharing her brilliant style & outfitting nikki in the kinds of chic, practical & ridiculously comfy maternity gear every mama-to-be needs.

they say pregnancy is the happiest reason to feel crap, but when you’re decked out like this, at least you’ll never look it

nikki wears: arabella dress, $115, seed hat, $59.95, her own boots,

HIPSTER MUM LOVES: PUMPING THE JAM

June 18, 2014

I love how with certain phrases you can just say the words and instantly a wicked ’90s beat starts pumping in your head and gets your body pop-locking along. I mean, who can say “groove is in the heart” without hearing the accompanying dum-da-da-dee-dum? And don’t get me started about “every body dance now”.

For me, “pump up the jam” is another one of those phrases. And an appropriate catch-cry for Friday. The only question is: “y’all ready for this?”.

HIPSTER MUM SWAG: KAREN WALKER NECKLACE

Birthdays. What’s not to love about birthdays? A lot, apparently.

As a kid I spent every 11 March being the World’s Biggest Birthday Sook. There was something about the fun! happy! good times! that really threw me. Looking back, maybe it was the fact that I really wanted it to be special, but was secretly scared it wasn’t going to be. A child version of FOMO anxious that my special moment wasn’t going to be special enough.

Ha! Well, at the ripe old age of 33 I’ve finally figured it out: I’m no special starfish.

The truth is the special moments are rarely the ones that you agonise over for days and weeks; the truly special moments pop out of the blue, knock you for six and stick with you for years to come.

Like when HIPSTER DAD coughed up this tiny box of Karen Walker treasure. What a truly heart-racing and blissfully unexpected delight! Sure, I’ve grown out of the Birthday Sooks, but good to know that sense of excitement unwrapping something beautiful never goes away.
