Confession: I don’t have a DIY bone in my body – BUT it’s my dream to get more crafty, especially with the kids.
I think it’s so important not to become familiar with trying and making and thinking creatively from a young age, and I adore bloggers like Patchwork Cactus who do the sweetest, simplest projects for their home. SO this is my first attempt. Drumroll please…. introducing the Hipster Mum Black & White Cactus Garland!
Download the cactus shape I used here, with all instructions with pics below. Happy crafting!

I used the amazing Brother Scanncut to cut my shapes, but if you don’t have that you can download the cactus shape here and trace on to the cardboard to do the same thing.

Download the cactus shape here. Print and trace it onto the white cardboard three or four times. If you have a Brother ScanNCut, you can find the jpeg file I used here. I converted it to an SVG file using this website here then resized it to 10cm for print on the machine.

Using the same cactus template trace it onto the black cardboard four times. If you have a a Brother ScanNCut, use the same cut file with the black cardboard.

With the black and white markers, draw 2.5 cm spikes on the black and white cardboard on both sides.

Using the hole puncher (mine was 8mm), punch holes into the top of each cactus and thread the string through. Ensure each cactus stays in place by tying a knot.
And that’s it! I’ve strung mine up over the bed, and my mum is using hers to hide scratched bits of paint on her walls. Can’t wait to hear how you use yours. Let me know!
